Authorities in Ranong province invite Tigerair to serve growing traffic of tourists

RANONG, Jan 1 (TNA) - Ranong governor Suriyan Kanjanasilp invited Tigerair to operate Bangkok-Ranong flights to serve the growth of tourism, trade and investment in the southern province. He said he led representatives of government and private authorities in Ranong to meet executives of Tigerair, holding talks on the possible opening of the Bangkok-Ranong route. Tigerair could be the second airline to operate flights on the route after Nok Air which was providing travelers with one flight per day. Almost all seats on Nok Air flights on the route were occupied and the traffic should grow considerably further after the formation of the ASEAN Community this year regarding the tourism, trade and investment potential of Ranong and the adjacent Myanmar city of Kawthaung, Mr Suriysan said. Sonchai Ouitekkheng, president of an association of tour operators in Ranong, said he was trying to promote Ranong as a tourism gateway to Myanmar, especially to islands in Myeik city. (TNA)
