Authorities warn of 141 risk spots on roads nationwide

BANGKOK, April 8 (TNA) - The Ministry of Transport pushes forward with its campaign to promote road safety, while the Department of Highways is warning commuters of 141 risk spots on roads nationwide ahead of the Songkran Festival 2017. Sarawut Songsriwilai, deputy director-general of the department's highway maintenance office said the department has collated and provided a report on accident-prone spots such as curves, intersections, steep slopes across the country in order to provide the public with useful information before their journeys to their hometowns during the upcoming Songkran long holiday next week. The report has been created on data collected from various sources, including the road crash statistics of last year’s Songkran holiday. The department has put warning signs and put anti-skid paint on road surfaces to ensure better safety for commuters, while asking for cooperation from the public to drive safe and strictly follow traffic rules.
