Bérénice Bejo replaces Marion Cotillard in Asghar Farhadi’s next film

TEHRAN, Aug.25(MNA) -- “The Artist” Argentine-French star Bérénice Bejo will replace Marion Cotillard in the next film by the Oscar-winning Iranian director Asghar Farhadi. The switch was forced by scheduling conflicts, Deadline Hollywood quoting producer Alexander Mallet-Guy of Memento Films Production reported on Thursday. Bejo received an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress for her role in “The Artist”, which won her the César Award for Best Actress. Shooting is scheduled to commence in October in and around Paris for the untitled French-language film that will also star French actor of Algerian origin Tahar Rahim. Meanwhile, Iranian actor Ali Mosaffa is also among the main members of the cast. Mallet-Guy previously said that the film will be a love story between an Iranian girl and a boy of North African origins. Memento Films Production distributed Farhadi’s previous films “About Elly” and “A Separation” in France. “A Separation” won an Oscar, Golden Globe and French César for best foreign film earlier this year as well Berlin’s Golden Bear in 2011.
