BACA president opens international cultural seminar

Manama, Nov. 24 (BNA): President of Bahrain Authority of Culture and Antiquities (BACA), Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, has inaugurated the international seminar titled "Image of Other: intersecting views." More than 60 Arab and European intellectuals, sociologists and humanities experts partook in the two-day event held within context of the BACAs Knowledge Transmission Project. Shaikha Mai said "The Knowledge Transmission Project comes to offset the shortage in accurate knowledge Transmission. The project began in 2014 to translate 50 books into Arabic language in a host of cultural and linguistic fields." "The project organizes the Arab-European Young Sociologists Seminar and also this international seminar aimed to boost the Kingdom of Bahrain's international position and to mirror its openness onto other cultures," Shaikha Mai said. "Today we witness, as part of the Year of Bahrain Your Destination, the presence of elite specialists of humanities and social sciences are in Bahrain in this convergence that reflects the significance of the Arab world's image in our current societies," she added. BACA president extended thanks to the seminar organisers led by Arab sociologist Taher Labib who was behind the concept of the Knowledge Transmission Project.
