Bahrain’s ambassador attends video conference

New York, May 12(BNA): Bahrain’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Jamal Fares Alrowaiei, participated in the High-Level Video Conference, entitled "The Role of Religious Leaders in Addressing the Multiple Challenges of COVID-19".
The Moroccan Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York. The hosted the virtual meeting which was also attended by the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, and the President of the UN General Assembly, Tijjani Muhammad-Bande.
The Ambassador stressed His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa stance, reiterating Bahrain’s support to the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity’s call to prayer for humanity on the 14th of May.
His Majesty said that the event would be a day that unites people of different religions and races to supplicate, fast, do good and pray to Allah the Almighty to lift this pandemic off humanity, which represents a message of hope and solidarity to all humans in these difficult times.
He reiterated Bahrain’s keenness, led by HM the King, on promoting religious pluralism and coexistence in Bahrain. He highlighted the role played by King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence, stressing Bahrain’s diversity and openness, embracing various religions and cultures in harmony and peace.
He commended the role of religious leaders in cultivating the values of tolerance and mutual respect among all, especially in light of the current exceptional circumstances resulting from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
