Bahrain’s anti-drug efforts hailed

Vienna, Mar.11 (BNA): Southern Governor, member of the National Anti-drug Committee Shaikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al-Khalifa met former Austrian Justice Minister Claudia Bandion-Ortner and former Slovenian Interior Minister, President of Mediation Centre of Europe, Aleš Zalar, and discussed cooperation. The meeting focused on the Austrian programmes aimed to rehabilitate drug addicts and reintegrate them into society. The Slovenian practices in dealing with drug convicts also came under the spotlight. The Governor briefed the Austrian and Slovenian officials on Bahrain’s national anti-drug strategy which was launched in 2015 as well as the Anti-violence and Anti-addiction Programme (Maan). Shaikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al-Khalifa hailed the pivotal role of Austria, which hosts key international organization, including committees specialized in combating drug trafficking. The Austrian and Slovenian officials commended Bahrain’s strenuous efforts to combat drug-trafficking and rehabilitate addicts and implement preventive programmes.
