Bahrain’s aspiration to achieve regional peace highlighted

Manama, Jan. 22 (BNA): Foreign Affairs Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa expressed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s hope for the cooperation of world powers to achieve peace and security in the region, and to contribute to settling crises and overcoming the challenges facing the region. In a statement to Bahrain News Agency, the Foreign Affairs Minister expressed his hope that the Astana talks will be successful in putting forth a peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis that will maintain the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic and ensure that there is no foreign interference in its internal affairs. A solution that will, moreover, ensure that the Syrian people will have peace and stability and that they can achieve their hopes of development and prosperity. He reiterated the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries’ support of efforts aimed at preserving the foundations of peace and stability in the region as well as adopting a non-hostile attitude towards any country. The Minister, moreover, expressed support for efforts seeking to consolidate constructive cooperation and promote positive relations between all countries in the region on the basis of mutual respect and joint action to face challenges, preserve shared interests and achieve the aspirations of people in the region in gaining further development and prosperity.
