Bahrain’s commitment to GCC cohesion stressed

Manama, Feb.24 (BNA): The Foreign Ministry sent a correspondence to its Qatari counterpart, reiterating an invitation to send an official delegation to start bilateral talks between the two countries regarding pending issues between the two sides. The Shura Council’s Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee commended the step which reflects the Bahrain’s stance, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to strengthen the GCC cohesion. Chaired by Shura Council member Youssef bin Ahmed Al Ghatam, the committee lauded the move which came is in implementation of the provisions of Al-Ula statement issued at the 41st session of the GCC Supreme Council, which was held in Al-Ula Governorate, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on January 5, 2021. The committee backed the efforts being undertaken by Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani to hold bilateral talks with Qatar and settle pending issues. It stressed the importance of implementing the Al-Ula summit statement, reiterating Bahrain’s commitment to dialogue and all Gulf agreements and treaties, which contributes to strengthening the GCC.
