Bahrain attends Archipelagic and Island State Forum meeting

Manama, Nov. 26 (BNA): Supreme Council for Environment Chief Executive Dr. Mohammed Mubarak Bin Daina has participated in the third ministerial meeting of the Archipelagic and Island State (AIS) Forum held virtually under the theme of “Fostering Solidarity Between Archipelagic and Island States: Towards a Sustainable Ocean Future."
Dr. Bin Daina conveyed the greetings of His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Personal Representative of His Majesty the King and Chairman of the Supreme Council for the Environment, to the participants and Bahrain's keenness on the success of the meeting to improve environmental action and achieve the goals of sustainable development.
Bin Daina praised the efforts made by archipelagic and island countries and their harnessing of all capabilities to solve environmental issues. He called for support to island and small states to help them tackle the environmental challenges they face in order to move forward with their development plans and achieve social and economic prosperity.
He also called for setting priorities, reviewing the progress achieved so far and implementing plans and programs to strengthen cooperation between countries in the Archipelagic and Island States Forum.
He noted the progress achieved in environmental and climate issues so far, and wished further accomplishments through the meeting held in exceptional circumstances caused by COVID-19.
