Bahrain attends change of US Central Command ceremony

Tampa, Florida, Mar. 29 (BNA): Following the invitation to HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to attend the change of command ceremony, Bahrain’s Ambassador to the United States, Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, participated in the change of command ceremony in which General Kenneth F. McKenzie took over the leadership of the United States Central Command from retiring Commander General Joseph Votel. At the ceremony held in Tampa, Florida on March 28 and attended by the military attaché at the embassy, Brigadier General Jassim Abdullah Al-Jowder, the ambassador conveyed the greetings of His Majesty the King to General Votel and thanked him for the support and services provided by the Central Command to Bahrain, wishing General Mackenzie success in his mission. General Votel was appointed Commander of the US Central Command in March 2016 and assigned the operations in the Middle East, Southwest and Central Asia, and worked on combating terrorism and promoting stability throughout the Middle East.
