Bahrain attends meeting on women empowerment

Cairo, June 17(BNA): A ministerial consultative meeting focusing on women empowerment was held in Cairo, Egypt, under the theme "Women in decision-making positions". The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held the event in cooperation with the Egyptian Foreign Ministry and National Women’s Council.
Supreme Council for Women (SCW) director general for administrative and media affairs Ezzeddine Almoayyed attended the session, along with officials and experts representing the OIC member states. Almoayyed addressed the event outlining Bahrain’s efforts to empower women to assume leading and decision-making roles.
He said that Bahrain was among the pioneering countries, which guaranteed women’s right to participate actively in all fields. Being a partner in the national development efforts. He underlined SCW efforts to empower women, citing mainly the National Programme for the Integration of Women’s needs in Development, the establishment of a follow-up system, equal opportunity units, the national report for gender balance and the national observatory for gender indicators.
The SCW director general for administrative and media affairs shed light on Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa Global Award for Women's Empowerment, highlighting legislations aimed at bolstering the status of women.
He also took part in the first meeting of the temporary Open-ended Working Group to prepare the draft internal regulations of the Organization for the Development of Women in the OIC Member States.
