Bahrain attends OIC meeting

Tashkent, Oct. 18 (BNA): The Minister’s Assistant for Foreign Affairs, Abdulla bin Faisal bin Jabur Al Doseri, underscored the keenness of the Kingdom of Bahrain on the unity, independence and sovereignty of the Islamic countries, and the preservation of their territorial integrity to maintain security and welfare of their people. He stressed Bahrain’s commitment to provide humanitarian and relief assistance to those affected, to promote tolerance and dialogue values between religions, sects and cultures, and to support the efforts of the international community in the fight against extremism and terrorism. This came in his speech while he was addressing the 43rd Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers hosted by Uzbekistan Republic on 18 – 19 October,2016 under the theme:”Education and Enlightenment: Path to Peace and Creativity). Al Doseri expressed thanks and appreciation to the Republic of Uzbekistan for hosting the conference, and wished it success for the presidency of the current session, thanked the State of Kuwait on the successful and productive presidency of the previous session, and noted the tireless efforts of His Excellency the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Dr. Iyad Madani. The Minister’s Assistant for Foreign Affairs reiterated that the ongoing Palestinian issue without settlement remains a challenge to international community, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, in particular, and called for concerted efforts to reach a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East on the basis of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 1967 and Al-Quds Al- Sharif as its capital. He welcomed the adoption by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) of a resolution that acknowledges Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al Sharif to be an exclusively Islamic holy site and urged the international community to take decisive action in the face of Israeli attacks on the shrines and Islamic culture in the occupied Palestinian territories. He stated that continuation of the Syrian crisis for six years has created a tragedy situation of bloody conflicts, and humanitarian painful disaster, and called for the cooperation of everyone to put an end to this suffering and human tragedy based on a peaceful settlement and implementation of the Security Council resolution 2254, and the communiqué of Geneva 1 in 2012. Al Doseri stated that Bahrain has spared no effort to support legitimacy in Yemen under the leadership of the president Abd- Rabbu Mansour Hadi as it is committed to the participation in the Arab Alliance to restore stability, provide humanitarian assistance to civilians, and support of the Yemeni people to challenge the foreign interference and anyone whose aim is to undermine the national unity in order to reach a peaceful settlement based on the initiative of the Gulf and its executive mechanisms, the outcome of the national dialogue and the UN Security Council Resolution No. 2216 of 2015, and praised Kuwait's efforts in hosting the relevant peace consultations. He pointed out to the keenness of the Kingdom of Bahrain on the unity, independence and sovereignty of the Islamic countries, particularly the countries where there is unrest. He also expressed Bahrain's keenness to participate in all philanthropic efforts through the Royal Charity Organization in collaboration with donating funds, Gulf, Arab and Islamic institutions in the provision of humanitarian assistances, food, and pharmaceutical aid for the relief of those affected and afflicted. He highlighted the Kingdom of Bahrain’s support to the humanitarian initiatives of regional and international organizations in the areas of development and peaceful coexistence among cultures and civilizations. Furthermore, he pointed out to Bahrain hosting of the Regional Center for Information and Communication Technology, and Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage, as well as Bahrain initiatives of the establishment of the UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize for the Use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in Education in 2005, Issa Award for humanitarian service, and other initiatives that emphasize its commitment to the international partnership for love and peace. In conclusion, Al Dosari affirmed that the Islamic World is facing political, security and intellectual challenges, and conspiracies with ultimate goal to undermine our beliefs and our achievements, as well as provoking discord and hatred in our society that entail the unity of the internal front, adherence to the collective Islamic unity, and to intensify joint efforts to introduce the world about the reality of the Islamic world, its development and humanitarian achievements, its historical and contemporary role in the dissemination and exchange of science, knowledge, peace and tolerance values, and its renunciation of violence and terrorism.
