Bahrain attends UNSC Summit on non-proliferation

New York, Sept. 26(BNA): The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, participated in the United Nations Security Council Summit (UNSC) on Non- Proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York under the chairmanship of the President of the United States, Donald Trump. The summit aims to draw the attention of the world countries to the need to confront the problem of proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and enable UNSC to get its decisions implemented and to address and prevent the fall of such weapons in the hands of non-State groups, including terrorists. The Summit discussed ways of holding the States that violate relevant Security Council resolutions accountable and looked into means of strengthening the existing sanctions in the event of non-compliance with UNSC resolutions and mechanisms. It also looked into the measures that member-states should take to eliminate any technological activities that may be used in nuclear and chemical weapons.
