Bahrain concludes participation in parliamentary summits

Vienna, Sep. 10 (BNA): A delegation led by Council of Representatives Speaker Fawiza bint Abdulla Zainal, concluded its participation in 13th Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament and the First Global Parliamentary Summit on Counter-Terrorism. Organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in the Austrian capital Vienna on September 6-9, the events were attended by 135 parliamentary delegations from different countries worldwide. The delegation also included Shura Council First Deputy Chairman Jamal Mohammed Fakhro, Council of Representatives First Deputy Speaker Mp. Abdulnabi Salman and Shura Council Second Deputy Chair Jameela Ali Salman. Zainal commended Bahrain delegation’s active participation in the conference as well as both summits, stressing the importance of the platforms which provide an opportunity to meet parliamentary leaders and build bridges of cooperation and charting solutions to consolidate peace, sustainable democracy and the rule of the law. The delegations discussed key regional and international issues, as well as challenges facing countries in implementing their development strategies and programmes.
