Bahrain condemns Iran shooting down US drone over Strait of Hormuz

Manama, June 20 (BNA): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain strongly condemned the Islamic Republic of Iran's shooting down of a United States military drone in international airspace over the Strait of Hormuz. It considered the act as a cowardly aggression and unjustifiable escalation by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps that targets the safety and freedom of international navigation and the security and stability of the states and peoples of the region. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed full support of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United States of America and supported its continued and concrete efforts to consolidate peace and security in the region. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the need for the international community to shoulder its responsibility and to confront the Islamic Republic of Iran’s irresponsible behavior and practices so as to halt such recurrent violations of international laws and norms and put an end to Tehran’s attempts to obstruct the security and safety of maritime traffic and undermine international peace and security.
