Bahrain condemns Israel's new colonies law

Manama, Feb. 8 (BNA): The Kingdom of Bahrain has condemned the so-called 'Settlement Regularization Law' which has been recently passed by the Israeli Knesset in a bid to legitimize confiscation of the Palestinian lands and expand construction of more settler homes. "It affirms that the law is a flagrant breach of international legitimacy and in violation of the United Nations decisions and UN Security Council resolution 2334 as well as it is an indication of Israel’s adamant endeavor to abort peace efforts and drag the entire region into an even more dangerous phase," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in its statement issued today. "While the ministry accentuates the right of the brotherly Palestinian people to establish an independent state on all their national territory with East Jerusalem as a capital, it calls on the Israeli government to act seriously and prevent further settlement homes and desist from further Palestinian land confiscation." "It also urges the International Community to assume it responsibilities and take the necessary procedures to halt Israel’ settlements and so as to give a chance to the efforts seeking a permanent and just settlement to the Palestinian cause to materialize, on the basis of the two-state solution, and to put an end to the Israeli occupation, based on the Arab Peace Initiative and in implementation of the relevant International Legitimacy decisions."
