Bahrain elected ASBU's Executive Office for Emergency Affairs member

Riyadh, Dec. 13 (BNA): Bahrain has been elected as a member of the Executive Office for Emergency Affairs of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) for the years 2022 and 2023. The kingdom was elected to the post during the 41st session of the ASBU’s General Assembly and 106th meeting of its Executive Council, hosted by the Saudi Broadcasting Authority (SBA), under the patronage of Acting Media Minister, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi. On the occasion, Assistant Undersecretary for Radio and Television, Abdulla Khalid Al-Dossary, said that the kingdom’s election to the post reflects the extent of the great Arab confidence in and appreciation for the Bahrain media thanks to its advanced capabilities and its approach that supports Arab cooperation at all levels, based on His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s wise visions and constant directives to back all efforts aimed at enhancing joint Arab cooperation through a media message that calls for rapprochement, love and peace, as well as on the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to develop media in the kingdom. He indicated that during its membership of the Executive Office for Emergency Affairs, Bahrain will support the Office’s goals, including finding appropriate solutions to any emergency issues that may arise and taking appropriate decisions thereon during the period between the meetings of the Executive Council, in light of the rapid changes in the audiovisual sector, especially regarding the acquisition of the rights of sports events, Al-Dossary asserted that the developments witnessed by Arab countries and the world as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic represent a real challenge for the media, and increase its role in raising the Arab public awareness through a credible and professional media content that supports sustainable development efforts in the Arab world, noting that the kingdom, will cooperate with all members in order to come up with unified media visions and policies towards various challenges facing Arab countries. Al-Dossary lauded the distinguished organisation of the event by Saudi SBA, commending all efforts made to ensure its success. ASBU’s Executive Office for Emergency Affairs consists of six members for a two–year term, as follows: · ASBU President/ Chairperson · ASBU First Vice-President/ Member · ASBU Second Vice-President/ Member · An active member from among the members of the Executive Council / Member · An associate member from among the two associate members of the Executive Council / member · The Director-General/ Member The Executive Office for Emergency Affairs (EOEA) meets at the invitation of its President and the request of the Director-General. All decisions and measures taken by the EOEA are submitted to the Executive Council for approval.
