Bahrain, Finland discuss means to enhance cooperation in youth centres’ development

Manama, July 1 (BNA): Youth and Sports Affairs Minister, Ayman bin Tawfiq Al-Moayyad, held a virtual meeting with the State Secretary to the Minister of Family Affairs and Social Services in Finland, Eila Mäkipää. Assistant Undersecretary for Support and Initiatives, Sarah Eshaq, and Fatima Al-Khan, from the Minister’s Office, participated in the remote meeting. The minister stressed the importance of the meeting in strengthening youth relations between the two countries, particularly regarding means to regulate youth and social work, as well as identify strategies to develop youth centres in the two countries. Al-Moayyad gave a presentation about Bahrain’s model in investing in youth potentials, through empowering youth, building capacities, developing skills, providing incubator environment, promoting open and fair competition among youth. He also highlighted Bahrain’s initiatives towards global youth. Eila Mäkipää also gave a presentation about her country’s experience in taking care of youth in various fields. The two sides reviewed the youth and social programmes in the two countries. They also discussed ways to launch joint youth projects and initiatives that would contribute to enhancing youth participation, in addition to means to benefit from each other’s experiences in developing youth centres. The Finnish State Secretary lauded the steadily-growing relations and cooperation between the two countries, affirming her country’s keenness to strengthen youth relations with Bahrain in order to take advantage of its experience in the field of youth, which, she said, is among the most successful experiences at the regional and international levels.
