Bahrain to host International Youth Conference

Manama, Apr. 23 (BNA): Bahrain is set to host the 9th International Youth Conference from April 24 to 28. The event is organised by the Youth and Sport Affairs Ministry under the patronage of Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The conference, themed "Give Back", will focus on the UN sustainable development goals.
Shaikh Nasser underlined the key role of the youth as real partners in carrying out the comprehensive and sustainable development schemes looked forward to by Bahrain within the framework of the Economic Vision 2030. The plans are part of the reform project of HM the King which is based on boosting people's welfare by optimising various services.
Shaikh Nasser said the conference is part of the Youth and Sport Affairs Ministry to tap on the youngsters' potentials and encourage them to enroll diligently in achieving the sustainable development goals so as to cater to present and future needs. He pointed out Bahrain's globally-acknowledged success which rated it as one of the countries with high human development indices in a report released by the UN for 2015 and 2016.
Shaikh Nasser emphasised the great potentials possessed by the youth which are capable of changing the world through effective contribution to working out creative visions to implement the sustainable development goals. He said launching this year King Hamad Award to permit the youth to achieve the sustainable development goals reflects the royal keenness to pave the way for the youngsters in Bahrain and all over the world to participate in coming up with creative and professional ideas to achieve the UN sustainable development goals.
The International Youth Conference is considered an important opportunity to motivate the Bahraini youth to develop their capabilities and exchange experiences with an elite of youngsters from all over the world.
