Bahrain to host MEED Energy Forum

Manama, Apr. 5. (BNA) – Under the patronage of the Finance Minister and the Minister in Charge of Oil and Gas Affairs Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, the Kingdom will host the Energy Forum on April 22 and 23, 2014, organised by MEED in partnership with the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA). Coinciding with the 80th jubilee of the start of exports of crude oil from Bahrain in 1934, the Bahrain Energy Forum will celebrate the achievements made by the Kingdom’s hydrocarbons, power and water sectors and explore the upcoming prospects for energy businesses globally. The Minister said the hosting the forum was in line with the keen interest of the Government of Bahrain to provide all kinds of support for international specialised functions held in Bahrain, especially the oil and gas ones, praising MEED’s initiatives. He pointed out that the forum would provide a platform to discuss oil and gas issues, and reaffirm Bahrain’s historic position as the energy hub of the Gulf and the wider Middle East. The event will attract local, regional and international oil and gas experts, decision-makers and practitioners. The forum will address the following topics, including Bahrain’s long-term energy strategy, upstream oil and gas projects, power generation, transmission and distribution project updates and future prospects, wastewater and sewage projects, Bahrain’s downstream manufacturing industries including aluminium and steel and how they optimise energy use, procurement and project delivery strategies including local talent development and JVs and financing major energy projects in Bahrain - challenges and successful funding models including PPP models.
