Bahrain to host World Indoor Skydiving Championship

Manama, Jan. 29 (BNA): The Kingdom of Bahrain will host the third FAI World Indoor Skydiving Championship in 2018. The global sporting event which will be held at the Gravity Indoor Skydiving, will attract 350 contenders from 20 countries in the world. The Kingdom Bahrain thus becomes the first Arab country to host the world championship.
Minister of Youth and Sport Hesham bin Mohammed Al-Jowder hailed the achievement which, he said, reflects the trust of the world federation in the ability of Bahrain to organise high-profile international tournaments. The organisation of international sporting events, he said, is in line with the farsighted vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa to turn Bahrain into a prized sport destination. He paid tribute to His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier.
Al-Jowder hailed the crucial role of HM the King’s Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa. He also commended the dedicated efforts of Gravity board chairman Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Khalifa, who played a crucial role in the decision to choose Bahrain to host the third FAI World Indoor Skydiving Championship in 2018.
