Bahrain hosts forum on international humanitarian law

Manama, Dec.7 (BNA): The National Committee for International Humanitarian Law, the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Bahrain Red Crescent Society have organized a symposium on the philosophy and content of international humanitarian law and its latest developments and applications. The seminar was organised in in cooperation with the Institute of Judicial and Legal Studies in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister, Head of the National Committee for International Humanitarian Law, Nawaf bin Mohammed Al Ma'awda stressed the importance of the course which focuses on the applications of international humanitarian law. He commended the efforts exerted by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and its role in strengthening the principles of international humanitarian law, and working to strengthen partnerships for humanitarian and relief work. Head of the Regional Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for GCC countries Mamadou Sow highlighted the role of the ICRC in helping people affected by armed conflict and other acts of violence around the world, to protect their lives and dignity and to alleviate their suffering,
