Bahrain human rights accomplishments outlined

Brussels, Apr. 5 (BNA): Assistant Foreign Minister Abdulla bin Faisal bin Jabur Al Doseri has affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain's commitment to enhancement and promotion of human rights, and strengthening the national preventive mechanisms. He stated that Bahrain's human rights enforcement efforts are outlined in line with modern methodologies and national strategy that took into consideration its cultural and civilizational values and its established democratic principles within the framework of the reform project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Al Doseri pointed out Bahrain's keenness in bolstering cooperation and exchanging technical and professional expertise with impartial international institutions in order to promote human rights to the levels that meet international human rights' standards and the best practices. The Assistant Foreign Minister highlighted Bahrain's human rights progress and achievements in the field of human rights protection and promotion along with preserving human dignity and ensuring his political, civil and economic freedoms as stipulated in the constitution and the national legislations and under the rule of law, the independence and impartiality of the judiciary and its independent human rights institutions, as well as its internationally recognized position in human development that was set by the United Nations Development Program. Talks revolved around a number of issues of common concern on the agenda. The delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain incudes Bahrain's ambassador to Brussels, Dr. Bahia Jawad Al Jishi, the Ombudsman Secretary- General Nawaf Al Maawada, Director of Legal Affairs Colonel Rashid bin Mohammed Bounjema, the Vice-Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights, Abdullah Al-Derazi, Major Maryam Mohammed Al-Bardouli, Head of the Center for Reform, Rehabilitation and Women's Custody. The delegation of the European External Action Service (EEAS) includes Deputy managing director for human rights, global and multilateral issues, EEAS , Marc Giacomini, Head of Arabian Peninsula, Iraq and Regional Policies Division, Rosamaria GILI H, Head of Human rights Division, EEAS, Mercedes GARCIA PEREZ, Fadia Zlubek, who is in charge of relations with the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in Arabian Peninsula, Iraq and Regional Policies Division, and Luis Bueno,who is responsible for relations with the GCC member States and Yemen Arabian Peninsula, Iraq and Regional Policies Division.
