Bahrain, Korea share keenness on boosting relations, broadening cooperation

Manama, Feb. 14 (BNA): The Chairman of the Shura Council Ali Saleh Al Saleh has lauded the strong relations and close cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Korea. Al Saleh, speaking during a round of talks with Korea’s National Assembly Speaker Park Byeong-seug currently on an official visit to the kingdom, said the Shura was interested in enhancing the bonds between the two countries, including exchanging legislative expertise between their two parliaments. Al Saleh briefed Speaker Park on Bahrain’s progress and comprehensive development across all areas during the era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and on the significance of the National Action Charter initiated by HM the King and supported overwhelmingly by Bahrainis in a popular referendum. The Kingdom is today celebrating its 20th anniversary, he added. The Shura Chairman hailed the Korean Speaker’s visit, saying that it reflected the depth of the relations between the two countries for over 45 years and stressed Bahrain’s keenness on intensifying exchanges and visits between them. He referred to the visit by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to Korea and the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding in various areas. Al Saleh said the Shura Council looked forward to strengthening coordination with the Korean National Assembly, especially that the two countries participate in common parliamentary events and build their approaches on the values of peace, minimizing conflicts, tolerance and cooperation. Al Saleh expressed admiration for Korea’s achievements in various areas and for its efforts in confronting the coronavirus pandemic, saying that the Shura was looking forward to benefiting from the Korean examples. Park Byeong-seug hailed the roles of HM King Hamad and HRH Crown Prince Salman in boosting Bahrain’s progress and stressed keenness on strengthening relations between the parliaments of both countries and on widening cooperation in various areas, including energy, combating the coronavirus and health where his country has achieved tremendous successes that could be shared with Bahrain.
