Bahrain marks International Volunteer Day

Manama, Dec. 5 (BNA): Bahrain joins the world in celebrating the International Volunteer Day 2018. The occasion aims to boost the values of voluntary and charity work in the civil society as well as government and non-government organisations. The event will be observed this year under the theme "Volunteers Build Resilient Communities".
Volunteerism, with its humanitarian and social dimensions, is considered as a civilisational behaviour that boosts solidarity in the community. It has a positive impact on people's life and contributes to fostering the community culture, the sense of responsibility and the spirit of voluntary initiative.
Marking the occasion, Labour and Social Development Minister Jamil bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan said Bahrain accords a great importance to backing voluntary work and promoting its noble humanitarian values. He pointed out the kingdom's keenness to broaden the scope of voluntary work and anchor the concept of social responsibility. He stressed that Bahrain has harnessed all potentials to turn volunteerism into an approach to foster solidarity in the community.
