Bahrain participates in Conference of Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network

Baku, June 30 (BNA): First Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council, Jamal Mohammed Fakhro, today participated in the opening session of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement Conference, held here in the presence of the Azeri President, Ilham Aliyev. Themed “Boosting the role of national parliaments in promoting global peace and sustainable development”, the conference was attended by the representatives of the parliaments of ten Non-Aligned Movement member states, in addition to the heads and representatives of nine international parliamentary organisiations. During the opening session, the President of Azerbaijan delivered a speech in which he urged concerted efforts to resolve conflicts and disputes, based on international principles and covenants. Speaker of the Azeri National Assembly, Sahiba Gafarova, who was elected Chairperson of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement Conference, also delivered a statement in which she called for the need to enhance cooperation and coordination among the parliaments of the member states on important issues.
