Bahrain participates in GCC preparatory educational meeting

Manama, Oct. 25 (BNA): The Kingdom of Bahrain has participated in the 20th preparatory meeting of the Undersecretaries of the Ministries of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the GCC countries. The virtual meeting, which precedes the meeting of the GCC Committee of the Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research, was presided by the UAE Higher Education Ministry Undersecretary Dr. Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Ma’alla, in the presence of officials from the GCC Secretariat General. The meeting cast light on issues on the agenda, including the efforts of the GCC member states in combating the novel coronavirus pandemic in the educational and scientific research field, a remote workshop held under the theme "Education During Corona Pandemic” and its recommendations, the decisions of the 19th meeting of the Higher Education Ministers Committee, the GCC network to ensure quality education in the GCC countries and international cooperation. Dr. Abdul Ghani Al Shewikh, the Higher Education Council Secretary General, who represented Bahrain at the meeting, underscored the importance of the meeting, lauding the efforts of the GCC Secretariat General in serving higher education and scientific research by preparing for the ministers’ meetings and following on the decisions and recommendations taken in those meetings. The meeting’s recommendations will be referred to the GCC Ministers of Higher Education in their 20th meeting to take the necessary decisions.
