Bahrain participates in international conference on Syria

Brussels, Apr. 5 (BNA): Assistant Foreign Minister Abdulla bin Faisal bin Jabur Al Doseri participated at the Brussels International Conference “Supporting the future of Syria and the Region” held today in Brussels, the capital of Belgium.
The Assistant Foreign Minister delivered the statement of the Kingdom of Bahrain before the Conference where he expressed the Kingdom’s condemnation of the heinous attack on the province of Idlib. He reiterated Bahrain’s strong denunciation of these acts and its demand that those responsible be held accountable for these attacks. He underscored that these attacks represent a violation of the international law and relevant international conventions.
The Assistant Foreign Minister pointed out the sufferings of the Syrian people despite the efforts exerted to reach an inclusive settlement that leads to a comprehensive political solution to ensure stopping bloodshed of the Syrian people, maintaining their rights in life, upholding their sovereignty and territorial integrity, preventing foreign intervention in their affairs and preserving peace and stability for Syria and the Syrian people.
The Assistant Foreign Minister stressed the need to enforce a ceasefire on all Syrian territories, facilitate and secure access of humanitarian aid to the Syrian civilians and refugees. He also called for the implementation of the United Nations Security Council resolutions 2254 and 2165 that demand the access of humanitarian assistance to besieged areas. He hailed humanitarian assistance provided by the international community to the Syrian people, besieged areas, and the innocent civilians. He further commended the role of the hosting countries of the Syrian refugees.
Al Doseri highlighted that foreign interference in the Syrian affairs has contributed directly to exacerbating the Syrian crisis and led to the worst humanitarian crisis since world war ıı. He clarified that more than half of the Syrian people are either refugees or displaced ones. He reiterated Bahrain’s assertion of the need for a political settlement based on a comprehensive political process built on Geneva communique 1 and the relevant international resolutions to achieve reforms and political pluralism.
The Assistant Foreign Minister expressed Bahrain’s wishes to the meeting of every success in meeting the aspirations of the Syrian people for a secure and decent life.
