Bahrain participates in international conference on Syria, region future

Brussels, Mar. 14 (BNA): The delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain, headed by Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and Representative to the European Union and NATO, Dr. Bahia Jawad Al-Jishi, today took part in the Third International Conference on the Future of Syria and the Region, held in Brussels, Kingdom of Belgium.
Delivering the statement of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Dr. Jishi said Bahrain supports a political solution leading to a comprehensive settlement to the Syrian crisis, in accordance with the decisions of Geneva 1 and on the basis of Security Council resolution 2254 to spare Syrian people’s bloodshed, preserve the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic, protect civilians and let humanitarian assistance reach the besieged areas.
The ambassador shed light on the prominent role of the Royal Charity Organization (RCO) in supporting the education sector in Syria and neighboring countries.
She mentioned its provision of 20 million US dollars to finance various projects, mainly in the establishment of the first scientific complex comprising four schools and construction of the Kingdom of Bahrain School in Irbid, in addition to two children's libraries that were created in cooperation with UNICEF.
She also pointed out the RCO establishment of a psychological counseling center at the Za'tari Camp and provision of prefabricated housing units in Al-Azraq Camp as well as other infrastructural works.
In conclusion, the Ambassador expressed Bahrain's hope for the success of the Third International Conference in achieving its objectives of supporting all efforts to achieve peace in Syria, help it surmount the current critical situation and enable the Syrians to achieve this goal through continuous cooperation with their Arab brothers and other friends around the world.
