Bahrain participates in MESA Task Force meeting

Washington, June 20 (BNA): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) delegation has participated in the meeting of the Middle East Strategic Alliance (MESA) Task Force on Counter-Terrorism, in Washington.
Dr. Nasser Al Balushi, Political and Economic Affairs Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, during the meeting stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation in the fight against terrorism and drying up its sources by unifying lists of terrorist groups and developing mechanisms for exchange of information and enhancement of border security.
He pointed out the importance of benefiting from the Prince Mohammed Bin Nayef Centre for Counselling and Care in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and UAE Sawab Centre in the fight against Extremist thought and Ideology.
Dr. Balushi asserted the position of The Kingdom of Bahrain as an active partner in the fight against terrorism to ensure security and stability in the region by intensifying all efforts against terrorism of all its forms and its funding sources.
The meeting comes within the efforts to establish a strategic alliance in the Middle East to promote prosperity, stability and regional security and emphasize the need to confront Iran's interventions in the region and its support of terrorist groups, particularly Hezbollah, the Houthis and other groups aiming to undermine regional security and stability.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Dr. Nasser and MoFA Director of the Americas and Pacific Affairs Directorate, Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa, met Acting Undersecretary for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights, Nathan A. Sales, in the presence of the Coordinator of Counterterrorism Affairs at the US Department of State.
The two sides hailed the close historical ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States and emphasized the importance of MESA role in promoting security and prosperity in the region.
