Bahrain participates in online session of UN Commission on the Status of Women

Manama, July 19, (BNA) The Supreme Council for Women (SCW) has taken part in the virtual informal final meeting of the 64th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. The meeting reviewed the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and the results of the 23rd special session of the General Assembly. It also assessed the current challenges facing the world and affecting the implementation of the Platform for Action to achieve gender equality, women's empowerment and contributions to the full realization of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Mohammed Al Faris, International Relations Adviser to the SCW General Secretariat, said that despite the conditions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Council continues to provide support and advice at the national, regional and global levels out of its keenness to sustain the efforts directed at the elevating the status of women and the sustainability of their progress.
