Bahrain participates in UNWTO regional meeting

Cairo, Mar. 24 (BNA): A delegation of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority chaired by Director of Tourism Facilities and Services, Hisham Al Saken, today participated in the 45th Meeting of the UNWTO Commission for the Middle East being held in Egypt. The two-day meeting focuses on providing digital solutions that contribute to the improvement of the tourism experience and the integration of modern technologies and sustaining development. It includes several sessions to focus on the most important issues in the tourism sector in the Middle East, including a session titled (2019, year of education, skills and employment), a report on the statistical framework for measuring sustainability tourism, a session on (UNWTO Tourism Tech Adventure), which is a platform for promoting investment and consolidating partnerships between public and private sectors, as well as encouraging entrepreneurship. The forum has attracted representatives from public and private sectors, business owners of emerging enterprises, in addition to participants in the first contest of the UNWTO for Emerging Projects in Tourism Sector to who will provide their own smart solutions for sustaining development in the same sector. Al Saken said the meeting targets designing plans and strategies for the development of tourism sector in the Middle East. Adding that it would also discuss challenges that hamper the progress of the sector to assist decision makers in overcoming the same and transforming them into opportunities for the tourism development.
