Bahrain-Russia ties praised

Manama, Sept. 18 (BNA): Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa, President of the Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs (SCIA), today received Ambassador of the Russian Federation Republic to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Vagif Garaev. Shaikh Abdulrahman praised the continuous growth of the amicable bilateral ties in various fields noting the ambassador’s efforts in boosting these ties, as well the mutual cooperation between Bahrain’s Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs, on the one hand; and, the Strategic Vision Group between Russia and the Muslim World and the Russian Muftis Council and Russian Federation’s Central Religious Management Department, on the other hand. The SCIA president lauded the outcome of Moscow’s 18th Holy Quran Contest held last year bearing the name of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, in appreciation of the great role he undertakes in serving Islam and Muslims, Quran, Muslim faith values, tolerance, moderation, shunning extremism, promoting amity, and humane co-existence. The ambassador expressed his appreciation of the efforts of HM the King in boosting Bahrain-Russia friendship and cooperation ties noting the Supreme Council’s role in linking Russian Muslims with their brethren in Bahrain and supporting the council’s programmes and projects. He also expressed confidence that the bilateral ties and programmes between Bahrain and Russia will continue to develop in order to serve both sides and meet the aspirations of the leaderships of both friendly countries.
