Bahrain supports Morocco’s sovereignty, territorial integrity

Manama, June 18 (BNA): Bahrain has expressed its appreciation for the continuous efforts by UN Secretary-general Antonio Guterres to resume negotiations for a permanent solution for the Moroccan Sahara conflict based on consensus, UNSC Resolution 2468/2019 and the relevant international resolutions. Negotiations were recently carried out at the meeting of the Special Committee on the Situation with regard to Implementation of the Declaration on Granting Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples. "The Ministry reiterates the Kingdom of Bahrain’s supportive position of the Kingdom of Morocco’s legitimate rights on its southern regions in accordance with the Autonomy Initiative and to find a political solution to the Sahara conflict within the framework of the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco and its development initiatives in the region," said the ministry in a statement. The ministry stressed that the Kingdom of Bahrain will remain alongside the Kingdom of Morocco against all threats targeting its sovereignty and national and territorial unity.
