Bahrain Triathlon Association launches Triathlon League

Manama, Feb. 8 (BNA): Bahrain Triathlon Association announced its historical move of launching the first Triathlon League in the Arab world, confirming the great place that the Kingdom of Bahrain occupies on the field of Triathlon sports, regionally and globally. This move by the Association, is an implementation of the vision and directives of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, in placing frameworks, mechanisms and programmes to make the Triathlon sport more prevalent in the Bahraini community and to ensure the expansion of competitions, for this sport. The Triathlon League is anticipated to be launched next Friday, February 10, 2017. The system to compute the winner will be determined by the points scored in the nine rounds. The Bahrain Triathlon Association calls on all national clubs and amateurs wishing to participate in the league initiative to register by sending information to the e-mail info@triathlon.bh and should include their name, date of birth and telephone number. On this occasion, Shaikh Saqer bin Salman Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Triathlon Association, said the that First Triathlon League at the Arab world level, magnifies the Kingdom of Bahrain's role on the Triathlon scene, as it is the home of this sport in the Middle East. He praised HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa for supporting the association's plans and programmes that aim to launch the first League in an organized manner. Shaikh Saqer bin Salman Al Khalifa added that three years after the establishment, Bahrain Triathlon Association is keen on developing rules and regulations for its championships and activities, in line with the International Association for the sport and that the Association is keen on holding training courses for local referees to oversee championships, in addition to depend on a technical body that oversees the team and participate in most local and foreign events. Shaikh Saqer bin Salman Al Khalifa pointed out that Association has completed developing its Triathlon strategy in the Kingdom of Bahrain, which enables to Association to execute its first plan of launching the first league in the Arabian world, through which the Association will work hard towards the success of the League's first experience in organizing a competition.
