Bahrain-Tunisian Committee convenes

Tunis, Oct. 21 (BNA): Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, has affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Tunisia are bound by strong brotherly ties, based on interaction, love and respect between the two brotherly leaderships and peoples.
He added that bilateral relations are ever-progressing in all fields thanks to the shared keenness to push forward joint action and underpin coordination between the two countries vis-à-vis all issues at regional and international gatherings.
The Minister’s remarks were made during the opening of the 6th Session of the Joint Bahraini-Tunisian Committee whose activities kicked off in Tunisia today under the co-chairmanship of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and his Tunisian counterpart, Khamis Al-Jehinawi.
The Minister added that the meeting held by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the Tunisian President, Beji Caid Essebsi, during the latter’s visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain last January, has had a great impact on the momentum of bilateral cooperation and moved ties to further advancement and progress.
He pointed out that today’s joint Committee meeting testifies to the two countries’ common keenness to bolster bilateral relations and reinforce the bases of joint cooperation as a step forward to push for closer ties and broader cooperation prospects.
He noted that proceeding ahead with development and prosperity endeavors and continuing to hold brotherly meetings would certainly cement Arab solidarity and develop the institutions of pan-Arab action to defeat the challenges facing the Arab nation and strengthen earnest action and serious coordination, whether on a bilateral or multilateral level, joint work would achieve security, stability and prosperity for the Arab peoples.
Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa reiterated the unflinching stance of the Kingdom of Bahrain in support for the Tunisian development march and all the measures Tunisia may take to combat terrorism and preserve its security and stability, which form an integral part of the overall Arab Security, hailing the success of the Tunisian political transition and leading democratic experience.
Khamis Al-Jehinawi, welcomed the Minister of Foreign Affairs and his accompanying delegation to Tunisia, affirming that the joint Bahraini-Tunisian Committee’s meeting indicates a common desire to further boost bilateral relations in all domains.
He also commended the important meeting between His Majesty the King and the Tunisian President last January in Manama, valuing Bahrain’s position in support for the Tunisia political and economic process.
The Tunisian Foreign Minister paid tribute the Kingdom of Bahrain for its progress and tangible successes at all levels ascribing them to the wise leadership of His Majesty the King and stressing Tunisia’s support for all the measures the kingdom may take to combat terrorism and maintain the security and safety of its territories, citizens and residents.
During the 6th Session, the Joint Bahraini-Tunisian Committee witnessed the signing of 15 agreements, memorandums of Understanding and Executive Programmes in vital fields such as industry, agriculture, media, energy, youth and sports, education, religious affairs, urban planning and customs.
Earlier today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, arrived in Tunisia, for an official visit to the country, where his Tunisian counterpart was at the forefront of those who received him.
