Bahrain-UAE brave decisions to boost regional peace, stability praised

Manama, Dec. 1 (BNA): The UAE Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, HE Shaikh Sultan bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, praised distinguished and growing relations between both countries. He also pointed out conformity of political stances regarding many issues, stressing bilateral cooperation in many areas, including the medical and cultural fields. In a press statement today, the ambassador affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain and the UAE have taken brave decisions towards boosting peace and stability in the Middle East. He pointed out cooperation between both countries in combating the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and exchanging experiences and information in this respect. He also pointed out conducting the third phase of the clinical trials of the inactive COVID-19 vaccine on volunteers from both countries under the slogan “For the Sake of Humanity”. The UAE ambassador underlined perpetual growth of bilateral economic relations in many fields, including trade exchange, joint investments, and cooperation in the financial and business sectors, tourism, oil and energy. He stressed keenness on boosting the role of the youth, citing initiatives taken to tap on their skills and potentials. HE Shaikh Sultan bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan extended heartfelt congratulations to the UAE President HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Their Highnesses the members of the Federal Supreme Council, the Crown Princes, the Deputy Rulers, the UAE people and all residents on the 49th National Day. He wished the UAE Rulers constant success and the country ever-lasting security. The UAE ambassador said his country celebrates on December 2 the 49th anniversary of its establishment, stressing the confident strides made towards growth and prosperity since the first pillars were laid down by the state’s founder late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and his brothers. He also paid tribute to the UAE President Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for continuing the development march. He noted that the National Day is an occasion to reiterate allegiance to the nation and its leadership as well as underline resolve to pursue the development march and preserve national gains. HE Shaikh Sultan bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan pointed out the numerous achievements brought about in 2020 at the local, regional and international level, including the launch of the first Arab and Islamic spacecraft, Hope, bound for Mars and the historic diplomatic accomplishment with the State of Israel which will further synergize efforts to boost security and stability in the region. He stressed that the agreement signed by the UAE and the State of Israel has received a great international support as it is consistent with the UN resolutions that call on the member states to intensify efforts to achieve a comprehensive, just and permanent peace in the Middle East. He added that the agreement is also a significant step to promote regional peace and reaffirms the UAE’s long-standing commitment towards the Palestinian people. The UAE ambassador emphasized his country’s success to anchor its humanitarian approach in 2020, a year that witnessed the biggest crisis facing humanity because of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. He noted that this humanitarian approach is considered a main pillar in the UAE’s policy, especially in its international cooperation and solidarity with the needy societies. He affirmed that as part of its tireless work to support the international efforts to curtail the spread of COVID-19, the UAE provided medical aid and precautionary equipment to 120 countries all over the world, benefiting more than 1,6 million workers in the health sector. He pointed out that the UAE became the main artery of logistic operations of the international organisations with their strategic stores located in the International City for Humanitarian Services, in Dubai. The city is considered the first responder to global crises, mainly the aid related to the efforts of confronting the virus. He also stressed the UAE’s keenness on being a logistic centre to distribute COVID-19 vaccine worldwide. Within the same context and as part of the efforts to curb the spread of the virus and its repercussions, the UAE ambassador noted that his country has postponed Expo 2020 Dubai to next October to ensure the safety of all participants. Hosting the exhibition, which will continue for six months next year, will coincide with the UAE’s celebration of its 50th National Day. He added that the aim is to enable the participants to overcome the repercussions of COVID-19 and provide an exceptional opportunity to provide solutions to key challenges.
