Bahrain-UAE forum to identify ways to manage challenges in media’s volatile environment

Manama, Oct. 19 (BNA): The future of media amid the global pandemic and the crisis of trust in the media among Arab youth will be highlighted at a Bahrain-UAE forum seen as “an exceptional opportunity to identify ways in which the media can come together to tackle key challenges.”
The forum to be held on Wednesday will also provide a platform for dialogue on the current state of Arab media and the shifts that are set to shape the future of the industry, the role of social media influencers in developing impactful content and sharing inspirational stories from the region.
The one-day UAE-Bahrain Media Forum, organized by Dubai Press Club (DPC) in collaboration with the Bahrain Journalists Association (BJA), will be held virtually.
Information Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al Romaihi will deliver the keynote address at the first media forum to be organised jointly by the UAE and Bahrain.
DPC President and Director General of the Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO) Mona Al Marri, BJA President Isa Al Shaij and, DPC Director Maitha Buhumaid will participate in the forum, Dubai Press Club said.
“We are delighted to have Bahrain’s Minister of Information join us as a main speaker at the Forum,” Al Marri said.
“Participants at the event will have a chance to listen to his insights drawn from his rich experience and vision. The UAE-Bahrain Media Forum is being hosted at a time of great disruption in the industry caused by the pandemic, which has led many news media outlets to rethink their business models.”
The forum will provide an exceptional opportunity to identify ways in which the media can come together to tackle key challenges facing the industry and further enhance the region’s content landscape, she added.
Buhumaid said Dubai Press Club is pleased to welcome the participants of the first UAE-Bahrain Media Forum.
“At DPC, we strongly believe in the media’s role as a key partner in the nation’s development. The Forum’s sessions will shed light on the importance of transitioning to a digital environment in order to overcome the challenges many media are facing today,” she said.
The forum will also address the role of social media influencers in sharing content that creates a positive impact, among other topics.
