Bahrain, UAE journalists associations sign cooperation agreement

Dubai, Aug. 31 (BNA): Bahrain Journalists Association (BJA) and the UAE Journalists Association (UAEJA) have announced the signing of a cooperation agreement related to journalism and the media.
The agreement was signed in Dubai by Ahdeya Ahmed, President of BJA, and Mohammed Al Hammadi, Chairman of the UAEJA, in the presence of UAEJA board members.
The agreement stipulates the organisation of mutual visits by journalists and training programmes and workshops, as well as the holding of sessions, conferences and seminars to support the profession, in light of the use of modern technologies.
"The signing of the agreement with our brothers and sisters at the Bahrain Journalists Association is part of our strategic cooperation in organising mutual visits by journalists, to closely monitor the journalism experience of both countries,” Al Hammadi said.
“It also aims to organise media and journalism training programmes, as well as to hold workshops for young journalists and launch events that will help improve the profession and raise our capacities.”
Ahdeya stressed that the cooperation agreement is very important for various reasons.
“It enhances cooperation between journalists from our countries and organises remote training courses that will start soon," she said.
"The two associations will organise several events and programmes that will benefit journalists, which will be held remotely due to the current circumstances.”
Training is an important factor for journalists as the press and the media are witnessing continuous development, Ahedya added.
“We must keep pace with the global development in journalism and the media in order for us, as journalists and media professionals, to deliver our message.
There is a strong need to assist meaningful media discourse at a time when we face many challenges in unifying our messages.
We journalists have a very important patriotic mission because the media discourse is what moves the street,” she said.
