Bahrain, US security cooperation discussed

Manama, Nov. 19 (BNA): Interior Minister, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, received here today the US Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs, René Clarke Cooper, and the accompanying delegation. Coast Guard Commander, Major-General Alaa Siyadi, and US Embassy’s Chargé d'Affaires, Maggie Nardi, attended the meeting. The Interior Minister welcomed the US official’s visit aimed to promote strong and strategic relations between Bahrain and the United States, highlighting the importance of security cooperation and coordination between the two friendly countries. He asserted that Bahrain moves on to reinforce democratic approach founded and backed by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The meeting reviewed the distinguished bilateral ties, topics of common interest and ways to promote security cooperation to serve the two countries. US Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs and the accompanying delegation visited an exhibition organised on the sidelines of the visit. The event showcases samples of seized weapons and explosives used by terrorist groups from 2011 onward, including ammunition, grenades, bombs and other tools used by terrorist to attack police personnel.
