Bahrain witnesses great democratic march under HM's leadership - Speaker

Manama, Sept. 15 (BNA): Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal, stressed that the wise approach of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa highlighted the Kingdom's pioneering status in a solid democracy, continuous achievements, and a clear community partnership in a comprehensive development process.
The Speaker lauded the effective cooperation between Representatives' Council and the government, headed by His Royal Highness the Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander, and First Deputy Prime Minister on alleviating the burden on citizens in the face of the impact of the pandemic.
She said that on the occasion of the Democracy International Day, marked September 15, is coinciding with Bahrain's Declaration of Support for Peace, confirming the Kingdom’s keenness to support peace and stability efforts, and to promote the principles of openness and the values of peaceful coexistence.
Zainal noted that celebrating Democracy International Day under this year’s slogan "COVID-19: Spotlight on Democracy," is an opportunity to present the efforts, actions and achievements of the government to promote democracy, spread awareness, and imply it into programs and plans in all fields, despite the impact the virus spread in the whole world, including the royal directives in launching the financial package to support the economic sectors, individuals and institutions in the Kingdom.
She said that the National Action Charter (NAC) and the Constitution of Bahrain affirmed democracy consolidation, freedom and that people are the source of authority.
Speaker hailed the great societal contributions of Supreme Council for Women (SCW) headed by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, emphasizing on Bahraini women in facing challenges, providing services and supporting workers in the front lines, in addition to the prominent role of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF) headed by His Majesty the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, National Security Advisor and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Affairs Chairman His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Fawzia Zainal highlighted the role of Parliament in supporting Bahrain's efforts to combat COVID-19, through all legislation and proposals that have contributed to relieving citizens' burdens and overcoming current challenges, especially in the economic, health, educational and social aspects.
She expressed her appreciation for the role of Parliament, ministries, official bodies, civil society institutions and associations, and all Bahrainis, for their generous contributions in supporting the efforts of Team Bahrain, to overcome the pandemic, praising the efforts of the frontliners and volunteers for their significant contribution.
