Bahraini ambassador to UK attends British Labor Party conference

London, Sept. 30 (BNA): Bahrain’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa has attended the 2021 British Labor Party Conference, held in Brighton, during which Sir Keir Starmer delivered his first major speech as a Labour Party leader.
On the sidelines of this conference, the embassy held a series of side meetings with a number of members of the British Labor Party including MP Stephen Timms, Shadow Foreign Minister (Europe and Americas) Catherine West, Shadow Minister for Peace and Disarmament Fabian Hamilton and Shadow Secretary of State for International Development Preet Kaur Gill.
It also held meetings with Shadow Minister for the Middle East and North Africa, Wayne David, Shadow Minister for Africa (jointly with DFID), Stephen Doughty, former Labor MP, Louise Elman, Shadow Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Lisa Nandy and Shadow Minister for International Development Yasmin Qureshi.
Bahrain’s embassy also participated in the reception of the Friends of Israel from the Labor Party and held a meeting with President of the Friends of the Labor Party in Israel Steve McCabe.
During these meetings, a number of topics of common interest between the two countries were discussed, as the ambassador affirmed that the bilateral relations are being strengthened through continuous visits and open discussions with all parties to serve the political, economic and cultural cooperation between the two sides.
Shaikh Fawaz was also keen to meet a group of Bahraini students who are currently studying at Brighton and surrounding cities as the British Universities’ academic year kicked off on Wednesday, September 28.
Shaikh Fawaz was briefed on students’ needs, stressing the embassy's constant readiness to provide assistance and advice to Bahraini students studying at British universities.
