Bahraini delegation visits Notre-Dame

Paris, Apr. 30 (BNA): Delegation from King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence and “This is Bahrain” Society visited Notre-Dame Cathedral with a number of representatives of different religions and sects. Chairman of the Board of Trustees of King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence, Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa confirmed that the recent fire of Notre-Dame is an unfortunate incident, stressing Bahrain’s stance with the French government and people. He indicated the importance of preserving the culture and historical heritage of religions and people. “This is Bahrain” President Betsy Mathieson said that the visit of the centre’s delegation is the second after their previous visit in 2015, confirming the importance of the historical status of the cathedral. Members of the centre’s delegation presented the experience of religious and cultural coexistence in Bahrain, its freedom of belief and the practice of rituals associated with the world's religions. The Cathedral members praised the visit of the centre's delegation, which expresses the coexistence and tolerance enjoyed by Bahraini people, stressing Bahrain's important initiatives at the local, regional and international levels in the field of peaceful coexistence.
