Bahraini Holy Quran contestants to be honoured

Manama, May 29 (BNA): Under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs will organise an honouring ceremony for “ambassadors of the Holy Quran”, the Bahraini reciters who won and participated in international competitions. The celebration will be held as part of Laylat-al-Qadr (the Night of Decree) programme on Friday evening at Ahmed Al-Fateh Islamic Centre Mosque.
The honouring ceremony is in line with the noble directives of HM the King to serve the Holy Quran and support and encourage its memorisers. It is also a tribute to the Bahraini reciters for their honourable representation of Bahrain in international gatherings.
A total of 70 reciters will be honoured in the ceremony, including nine female ones who represented the Kingdom of Bahrain in 22 international competitions held in 16 countries all over the world. Bahraini representatives have participated in 212 competitions and clinched 80 advanced places.
The celebration will include speeches by President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa and President of the Sunni Endowments Council Sheikh Dr. Rashid bin Mohammed Al Hajeri.
