Bahraini media's role praised

Manama, May 5 (BNA): The Shura Council has praised the successes and accomplishments of the Bahraini Press and media since His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa launched his reform process that contributed to increasing the number local dailies working in an atmosphere of freedom of opinion, expression and openness. The council, on the occasion of the Bahraini Press Day, took pride in the keenness of the government led by HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa the Prime Minister and HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, lauding their Highness's support to the freedom of the press in the Kingdom and keenness on safeguarding the rights of journalists and media personnel on the basis of the legislation that regulates the sector. The council praised the Bahraini press for their fundamental role in consolidating the unity and cohesion of the society and its progress emanating from its national responsibility and commitment to the values and principles of free, responsible, and highly professional journalism. The council congratulated all local press and media personnel on this occasion, stressing its support and assistance to all staff in this sector.
