Bahraini professor wins international award

Manama, Feb. 8 (BNA): Professor Faisal Abdullatif Alnasir has been nominated for the India-based International Health and Wellness Organization's award. The award will be delivered during a special ceremony in Mumbai on February 14-15. Dr. Alnasir took pride and honour to hoist the name of the Kingdom of Bahrain at international functions and to dedicate his award to HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the people of Bahrain lauding His Majesty's reforms which encouraged him to reach such top ranking. The award is usually given to effective doctors, researchers, professors who succeeded in promoting the medical and health vocations through their research studies in this field, according to Dr. Alnasir. He was the first Bahraini physician to obtain MRCGP and FFPH of UK, and PhD in Family Medicine. He is a fellow member of Royal College of General Practitioner (FRCGP) UK, fellow of the College of Public Health, UK, member of the Irish College of General Practitioners (ICGP), and member of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Alnasir is a university professor and chairman of the Department of Family & Community Medicine. He was the former Vice President of the Arabian Gulf University and also served for eight years as the President of the Scientific Council of Family & Community Medicine in the Arab Board for Health Specialties. He is also General Secretary of the International Society for the History of Islamic Medicine and advisor for the EMRO-WHO. He authored two books and published more than 70 scientific research studies.
