Bahraini women’s strides during HM King’s reform era highlighted by Shura committee

Manama, Jan. 31 (BNA): The Woman and Child Affairs Committee at the Shura Council, chaired by Dr. Ebtissam Mohammed Saleh Al-Dalal, has lauded the great support and care accorded by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), to Bahraini women. In a statement marking the Arab Women's Day, observed across Arab countries every February 1, the committee praised the distinguished status reached by Bahraini women during HM the King’s Reform Era, lauding the key positions held by them in the political, diplomatic, educational, media, engineering, legal and medical fields and sectors, among others. The panel expressed deep pride in all initiatives launched by the SCW to preserve the rights and gains of Bahraini women, as well as to maintain the status of the Bahraini Family, praising the plans and strategies devised by the SCW to consolidate the kingdom’s regional and international standing in empowering women and preserving their dignity. The Shura committee highlighted the Legislative branch’s great interest in Bahraini women, citing the numerous laws enacted to protect their rights and preserve their dignity, such as the Family Law that guaranteed all Bahraini women’s rights. The panel also asserted that Arab women have achieved innumerable successes and accomplishments at the political, economic and social levels, overcome many challenges, held leadership positions in various fields, defeated all obstacles, confronted all forms of discrimination by education and gained equality with men in all political rights thanks to the efforts of the Arab countries’ governments, which are always keen to support women, as well as empower them and enhance their role in society.
