Bahraini women empowerment highlighted

Manama, Apr. 4 (BNA): The HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa’s Global Award for Women Empowerment was launched in partnership with UN Women in March 2017 at an international ceremony at the UN in New York, wrote Bahrain's Foreign Affairs Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa in the second edition editorial of the Diplomatic Gazette.
"We in Bahrain have a vision. We have worked out our plans and initiatives to make this vision come true thanks to the pragmatism, determination, focus and commitment of our leaders and people," he said.
This vision includes a highly active role for empowered women as full and dependable partners in the nation-building process and in the ever-changing new global landscape with its growing challenges. And as Bahrain, a nation with an open mindset to meet international challenges, is fully committed to elevating the status of women worldwide and to empowering them politically, economically and socially, he added.
This award is a new achievement of paramount importance to Bahrain it is the outcome of the wise visions and support of the leadership which emboldened women to make many achievements and worked on empowering them in all economic, political and social fields and others and gave them an ample opportunity to play their full roles, he also said.
The award which carries the name of Her Royal Highness, wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council of Women whose has had an impressively crucial role in elevating the status of women nationally at all levels and in all areas, highlights the great successes made so far and the resolve to keep the forward-looking process of accomplishing new gains for women, the minister added.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs which has fully embraced the principle of equal opportunities and has endeavoured diligently to empower its women personnel at all levels stands as a highly-regarded model for the successes of Bahraini women, according to the magazine's editorial written by the minister.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its profound congratulations to our leaders and to HRH Princess Sabeeka on the global achievement that carries her name and the name of the Kingdom of Bahrain and that heralds a prosperous future for women.
