Bahrain's accession to UN Environment Programme on Chemicals, Waste welcomed

Manama, Mar. 4 (BNA): HM the King’s Personal Representative, President of the Supreme Council for Environment, Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, said winning the membership of the Executive Board of the UN Environment Programme on Chemicals and Waste clearly reflects the confidence of the United Nations in Bahrain's technical expertise in dealing with environmental issues, in particular the management of hazardous chemical wastes. HH Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad said Bahrain’s accession, represented by the SCE, to the Executive Board of the UN Environment's Programme on Chemicals and Waste will pave the way for new participations in other UN councils and committees. It would also provide Bahrain with the opportunity to attract more projects deal with the management of hazardous chemicals and waste. He noted that Bahrain has won the nomination for the small island countries for a two-year term.
