Bahrain's Education Ministry-Sapienza University cooperation discussed

Manama, Nov. 7 (BNA): Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi has met Eugenio Gaudio, rector of Sapienza University and other officials at the university in Rome, Italy.
The university officials praised the Royal initiative of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of establishing the King Hamad Chair in Interfaith Dialogue and Peaceful Coexistence, which will achieve high academic research output of students. They also praised the humanitarian and civilizational connotations in the speech of His Majesty the King that emphasize the significance of dialogue and peaceful coexistence.
The minister briefed them about Bahrain’s educational accomplishments including Education for All, issuance of Education and Higher Education laws, care being provided to students with special needs, the ministry’s efforts in promoting the concepts of citizenship and human rights, the Citizenship and Human Rights Enhancing Schools, the Kingdom’s results in numerous international reports, the international mathematics and science (TIMSS) test results obtaining 45 standard development rating, and Bahrain’s achievement of the top place among the participating countries in the Numeric Strategy Test. Bahrain also ranked as the first Arab country in the United Nations (UN)’s Human Development Report on education as well as the World Bank report which confirmed Bahrain’s leading educational progress at the level Arab countries.
The minister hailed the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to the Education Ministry to undertake all the necessary measures for establishment of Al Hidayah Al Khalifia University on the 100th anniversary of the first regular public school established in Bahrain since 1919.
The Italian university officials welcomed the cooperation with the Ministry of Education regarding the offering of joint academic programmes upon establishment of Al Hidayah Al Khalifia University. The proposed academic programmes include nanotechnology, space science, engineering specialisatons, and artificial intelligence.
The two sides agreed to form a joint working team to coordinate and prepare the necessary mechanisms for this purpose.
